Crafted has designed and built websites since 2021, for companies like Yahoo, Zest AI, Delta, Habito and Allegiant.
We started out on no-code platforms, and we were writing custom code on top of them from early on, because clients kept needing things the platforms couldn't do. Eventually most projects needed that, so we moved to custom builds and newer platforms where they made sense.
A lot of our work has also been inside teams that already had a roadmap and a stack they liked. We worked the way they worked, and a few of those have lasted years.
Today most of our work is brand and websites, designed and built together, plus some product design. We'll also take on just the development for teams that have their own designers.
In the last couple of years it's gotten easy to make a page with AI, and a lot of teams do that now, which we think is fine. Most of the people doing it are marketers, founders or engineers who ended up with design and front end on top of their actual job. They're learning as they go, and each of them makes their own calls about how to describe the company, so after a year the site says slightly different things depending on which page you land on.
Most startups we talk to put their site up quickly before a raise, on a template or built by a founder. The company has usually moved on since then. The product is further along and the positioning is clearer, and the site hasn't caught up.
Rebuilds are most of our work for that reason, so we set one price for them: six weeks and $30,000, agreed before we start. We design it and build it, and brand is included. The first thing we do is map redirects and metadata, which is how JetBlue Ventures moved to a completely new domain and ended up with more traffic than before. We package components, rules and documentation with the site, and we train your team on how to use them.
Your team is going to keep making pages with AI, and they should. We'd just rather they build into a system than make the same decisions from scratch on every page.
You pay half up front and half at launch, and the price doesn't change once we've agreed on it.
Some design studios only deliver designs and aren't experienced with development as deep as us. Which is where most of the detail goes.
When it comes to web projects, we deliver components, tokens and written rules that make up your project and set standards for what success looks like. We're here to support you if you need to make larger changes and advance the site.
Outside the studio, we have been senior and lead designers and engineers inside teams at HPE, Veridigm, CVS and Cloudflare, and on Aston Martin partnership work, and lead initiatives for NASA projects.
